Time to schedule out your Teams calendar for September 8th and 9th next week
Via its Nintendo Today app, Nintendo has announced a pair of Directs taking place next week. Both are leading up to the annual Tokyo Game Show where developers and publishers in Japan show off new games and products, which takes place the following week.
Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct
First, the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct will take place on Tuesday, September 8 at 7AM PT/10AM ET and last for around 30 minutes. Expected to be revealed are the Ocarina of Time remake and the leaked Legend of Zelda version of the Switch 2 console. We’ll also likely find out the name of the Legend of Zelda movie and possibly meet its full cast, though don’t expect a trailer yet — those usually drop in October/November, What else could we see? Well, I’m personally guessing we’ll see more LEGO sets revealed and possibly the long-awaited announcement of the Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD games coming to Switch and Switch 2.
Nintendo Direct
Then, on Wednesday, September 9th at 7AM PT/10AM ET, the company will host a general Nintendo Direct that will last for around 45 minutes. This is one of the longest in the company’s history, so the chances for plenty of game reveals are good. We can expect news on its upcoming slate — Fire Emblem, Switch Sports Resort, Xenoblade Genesis — but maybe even nods to Pokemon Wind & Waves. There are rumors that a 2D Metroid game is dropping this year, too. Heck, we might also see more of Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts at this event, since Nintendo and Square Enix have become better bedfellows, and maybe even Mega Man or Resident Evil. I’d love to see a new Ring Fit Adventure, myself.
Nintendo Treehouse
The Wednesday Direct will be immediately followed by a Nintendo Treehouse, showing off some of the games that will be featured in the event. It will last for approximately 110 minutes.
