NYGW: New York Games Week 2026 announced, coming October 4-11

It’s time for the Big Apple to have its biggest gaming celebration yet

New York has a long history of video game development, and an even longer history of gaming and arcades. Mario is from there!

That’s why the folks behind some of the most popular video game industry and fan events have come together to create New York Games Week, including Guy Blomberg (Games Industry Gathering), Krysti Pryde (PlayNYC), and Amit Hossain (IGDA NYC).

The event will take place from October 4-11, 2026. Dubbed “a city-wide week of events, showcases and activations that puts New York at the center of the global games industry” New York Games Week (NYGW from here on) aims to do just that, bringing together thousands of fans and industry members to celebrate the city that is at one of the hearts of the gaming world. Featuring music, showcases, panels, mixers, and more, the week-long event will coincide with a ton of other pop-culture events in the city over that week, like New York Comic Con, Game-a-Palooza and more.

A lot of the focus for this first year will be bringing together the development community, so expect to see some terrific ways to interact with other professional, whether full-time, indie, student or just gamedev-curious. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some neat parties and events taking place!
