Square Enix debuts obnoxiously cool new Final Fantasy Resonance trailer

Final Fantasy Resonance looks like it has all the right vibes

The next Final Fantasy game, Resonance, has been on our radar since its announcement earlier this year. Square Enix has been using HD-2D in Dragon Quest games and Octopath Traveler, but this is the first time the aesthetic and design mode is actually hitting the series that really kinda birthed it, Final Fantasy. So like, yeah, interest piqued.

While this is technically based on and expanded upon an iOS game that Square Enix has already released, it’s considerably different enough to be considered a new thing on its own.

The latest trailer, debuting at Tokyo Game Show, proves this fact by showing us a huge new cast, crazy-good environments, and all kinds of plot beats that would make any fan of Final Fantasy VI, aka the Greatest RPG of All Time, swoon.

It looks fantastic, really. There’s a demo available now on storefronts for those that want to dip in.

Final Fantasy Resonance arrives on Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, PlayStation 5 and PC on October 22, 2026.
